Abstract
This article is devoted to the issues of reorientation of international tourism flows in the modern world and
affects not only economic factors such as the number of tourists, their national composition, annual income from tourism
for a particular country or a particular region, but also studies some other socio-economic factors that have a direct
impact on the number of visits by tourists to a particular state: for example, the language barrier, the level of service in
the country, the development of the industry as a whole, the political situation and the difference in mentalities in different
social groups.
This work also describes the changes that have occurred in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, which had
a direct impact both on tourism itself as a whole and on its international direction due to a number of restrictions: a ban
on flights, border closures (full or partial) and other difficulties of international contacts.
The article also examines the economic aspect of these changes: financial losses due to the pandemic, the general
drawdown of the industry, global indicators, etc. The information provided in the article affects the main world regions,
which in the context of this work differ slightly from their generally accepted geographical and geopolitical counterparts.
