Abstract

The aim of this study was to establish a relationship between apoptosis of immunocompetent cells and the dynamics of changes in the leukocyte formula of the peripheral blood of mice infected with trichocephalosis. The experiment showed that in the acute stage of trichocephalosis there is a decrease in the number of heterophiles and lymphocytes, as well as morphological signs of apoptosis in heterophiles (neutrophils) and lymphocytes. Consequently, apoptosis of heterophiles and lymphocytes can become a significant factor in the induction of secondary immunosuppression during chronic helminthiasis process.
