Abstract

The article presents the results of a comparative assessment of histological changes in the liver of rats with the introduction of therapeutic and toxic doses of pyroplasmocide preparations of imidazole derivatives - Babesan 4% solution for injection and Piro-Stop, as well as diminazene derivatives Neosidine M. Preparations to animals were administered twice according to the instructions for use. Sampling of the liver for histological examination was carried out after 3 and 10 days. 3 days after the administration of drugs in a therapeutic dose, the largest changes in the liver (granular dystrophy of hepatocytes, plethora of the central veins and expansion of sinusoidal capillaries, areas of hepatocyte necrosis, proliferation of connective tissue around large vessels) were recorded with the use of the Pyro-Stop preparation. After 10 days, changes in the liver and kidneys persisted. In animals receiving a toxic dose of drugs, plethora of the central veins and blood vessels of the triads, morphological signs of hydropic dystrophy of hepatocytes, lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates were noted at both periods of observation. After the administration of the Neosidin M and Piro-Stop preparations, against the background of the above changes in the organs, necrosis sites and the growth of loose connective tissue were recorded. The studies indicate a hepatotropic nature of the action of drugs based on imidocarb and diminazen, which must be taken into account in the complex treatment of babesiosis in domestic animals.
