Abstract

Dilution of the ejaculate of male producers is one of the ways to prolong the life of sperm. Diluent is a synthetic (artificial) medium that provides long–term preservation of morphological parameters before and after cryopreservation and high fertilizing ability of sperm. Synthetic media are more saturated with nutritional and auxiliary components than sperm plasma (biological medium), since sperm live in plasma for only a few hours, and with a diluent for up to several days. Artificial media and their components used for dilution and storage of sperm should be investigated for harmlessness and effectiveness.
